The news portal Brussels Signal, which is operated by Remedia Europe SRL, has been gradually establishing itself since May 2023 in the EU bubble. The founder and CEO is the enterprising, conservative Patrick Egan. In 2010, he founded the consulting company FWD Affairs based in Budapest. According to the Reactionary International Database, Egan not only advised the French Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP), but also provided „international communication services“ for the Orban government. On the FWD Affairs website, the German CDU party, which provides the new Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, is also listed as a client.
The latter has categorically rejected cooperation with the Orban-friendly AfD on several occasions. Apparently, the CDU does not take such a strict view here either and allows itself a generous interpretation of previously made promises.
On 26 March, Brussels Signal hosted an event at which Henry Olsen, among others, spoke. He is a journalist at the Washington Post and Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Centre (EPPC) in Washington.
EPPC is a member of the Advisory Board of Project 2025 – the ideological think tank of the Trump administration.
The original website for this project has been taken offline.
Visitors to the event had to identify themselves with their ID, as there were apparently fears of disruption. In the end, there were around 20 visitors in the nearly empty hall and at least 70 badges were lying around unused in the entrance area.
This rather trivial incident unfortunately shows once again how seriously certain parties take their own high standards. Realpolitik is not a bad thing, but it should not be mixed with untruths in advance.
